RE: Anybody like the new Road King Custom?

I think back and it seems that his jacket looked a lot like fake leather. When the show first started he wore a light blue windbreaker. I think he looked cooler in that then that goofy leather jacket.

RE: Would you buy a Harley from a foreign-owned MoCo?

I just read that Ford sold Jaguar and Land Rover. Daimler-Benz owns Chrysler. Two iconic English automobiles are, or were American owned. I'll bet that chapped a few a$$es in England. And one of the world's best car makers owns Dodge.

RE: Anybody like the new Road King Custom?

Neither did the Fonz. He crashed into the chicken stand. I forgot what he jumped. The term "Jump the Shark" referring to the point when a TV show starts to go down hill is from the two part episode where everyone is in California and Fonzie jumps a shark on water skis.

RE: Anybody like the new Road King Custom?

I remember an episode of Happy Days where Fonzie is on a jury. they are trying a man for stealing a ladies purse. He rode by her on a motorcycle and snatched her purse. The ladie said that he grabbed it with his left hand. Fonzie convinced the jury that this guy didn't do it because he rode a Triumph, which is British, and therefore had the throttle on the left side of the handle bars. So, he couldn't have grabbed the purse with his left hand because he was riding an English bike that has the controls backwards from the American bikes. Just like the cars. I believed for years that Triumphs had the throttle on the left side. The Fonz said it so it had to be true.

RE: Anybody like the new Road King Custom?

Say hello to Dr. Who and especially that Billie Piper for me. I have been working, and riding to work, and tuning up my pickup, and trying to get some rest, and...

RE: What's wrong with my bike?

That is probably the reason. But, unless you aren't going to ride for a while, a month of more, I don't think you need a tender, or trickle charger. I have let mine sit for as long as 2 months without starting it let alone riding it with no problem. I didn't know it was going to sit that long, but it did last winter, and come to think of it it sat for longer the winter before. No problems with the battery in either case.

RE: Would you buy a Harley from a foreign-owned MoCo?

As long as the style and what I like about the bikes didn't change. And as funny as this will sound, given what I've said about Harley before, I worry about the quality when I hear about something made overseas. Japan in particular. That is an old prejudice that I have had for a long time. When I think of American built, I think of strong, heavy, sturdy, steel, wood, big, and meaty. When I think of Japanese built I think of cheap, light, small, weak. I know of many Japanese made products that are kick a$$, but that old stereotype is still lurking in the background. It's not like Chinese built stuff which just makes me think inferior. As long as the things I like stay, and the things I don't get changed, and the price goes down, I would be ok with a foreign owner. Especially a European one.

RE: What's wrong with my bike?

I agree with Hawg Man. That jumped out at me. I never put my battery on a charger, or a tender because it never sits long enough. If you are going to not ride for longer than a month, then I might use a tender. I always go start it and let it run for a while, 10 minutes maybe. I think by leaving it on a charger you may have cooked the battery. I did that to my laptop battery. I would say buy a new battery, and don't put it on a charger everytime it's not being used. How often do you ride anyway?

I didn't know anyone had actually built one. The Guy who designed it had just did the CG video. Cool.

RE: 2009 Victorys

"I understand what you are saying! Its true H.D. is behind on the technology, But doesn't nostalgia and the fact its built in the USA say something anymore!" Nostalgia - A longing to experience again some real or imagined former pleasure. A whistful desire to return in thought or in fact to a former time in one's life; a sentimental yearning for the happiness of a former place or time. Homesickness causing severe melancholia. From Webster's Dictionary. That's great that it's built here in America, but so is the Goldwing, and Toyotas. If that is all Harley has going for it, then why not buy them for the good resale value. So, no it doesn't count for much. that said, I love the look of the bikes, and I love my Harley. I want a new experience, I want to go forward, I want my own experience.

RE: 2009 Victorys

I have a friend who rides a Victory. He loves it. I like it too. It looks cool, sounds cool, and he spent a lot less than me. As for imitators, everyone at sometime or another follows the trend. From what I can tell the Japanese bikes imitated Harley's look, and only their look. They took harley tech and improved on it. A friend who has been riding the same Lowrider for over 15 years said years ago that he wished Harley would offset the cylinders for better cooling. Greenman is right, and I don't think Harley has had an original idea since 1903. If they have, they have kept it a secret. I have a challenge for everyone, Name one technical innovation to the motorcycling world Harley has introduced in the last 50 years, other than the Softail.

Let's face it, people copy what's popular. It makes money. Plus the chicks don't know.

RE: 2009 Victorys

Name one bike maker whose bikes are so different you can tell, with an untrained eye, the different models apart. I can see the different Harley from a mile away. That is because I have been around them so much. i have that trained eye. What is the difference between Harleys and others that Harleys all look alike but Hondas, Suzukis, Yamahas, ect don't?

Sons of Anarchy

A new TV show. Based on a former Bandito Ed Winterhalder, and his book. This could either be real good, or real lame. Since the trailer shows the main character, Jax (based on Winterhalder), riding without any eye protection I am going to say I think it may tend to lean towards the lame side. I will reserve judgement until after I watch a couple of episodes. Starts Sept. 3. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sons_of_Anarchy

RE: 2009 Victorys

I'm not sure if he is saying that other bikes are starting to look like Victorys, or that Victory is starting to look like it's own bike without looking like a Harley. And I don't know what Partzco is saying about paying too much and looking like the rest. In my experience, you will pay a lot more for the real thing (Harley) than the look-a-like bikes. Victorys aren't that expensive. Yet! And the fact is that you would probably get more for your money with a Victory versus a Harley.
